Aguadilla Service Processing Center
About our facilityThe Aguadilla SPC was established July 11th 1991 to assist the Border Patrol mission in Puerto Rico, and has since expanded to address concerns with Immigration and Customs Enforcement units in San Juan, St. Thomas and St. Croix who have jurisdiction over the US territories in the Caribbean. The Aguadilla SPC has a 65 bed capacity with expansion capabilities to 150 beds. The site is unique because it is the only Division of Immigration Health Services (DIHS)-staffed facility outside of the continental United States. Meet our staff and see what we doOperated by the DIHS, the ambulatory clinic is staffed by a core group of Public Health Services Officer and contract personnel. As with all our facilities, comprehensive primary health care is provided within a supervised and secure correctional setting. A Medical Doctor, Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse and support staff work as a team to meet the Division's mission of preventing the spread of disease globally through the provision of primary health care. Our LocationLocated 1000 miles south of Miami, bordering the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea, nestled in the northwest corner of Puerto Rico, is Aguadilla. Founded in 1775, it is known as "La Villa del Ojo de Agua" (village of the eye of water) and its name was given by the Taino Indians "Guadilla or Guadiya" which means garden. It is best known to visitors for its beaches and for traditional mundillo lace-making (bobbin lace). Aguadilla's most popular beaches include Crashboat (famous for its crystal clear waters), Jobos, Borinquen and Wilderness. Another of Aguadilla's attractions is the "Ojo de Agua" (water eye). This is an underground fresh water source that was used by the Aguadilla Harbor in times of Spanish occupation. During the early spring, Humpback whales travel close to Aguadilla during their yearly migration through the Mona straights. Places to go, People to seePuerto Rico offers something for everyone, from the most adventurous to the conservative.
