Los Angeles Staging Facility

Los Angeles Staging Facility picture

About our facility

Open and running for over four years, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Los Angeles Staging Facility provides health screens and chest x-rays for over 1,200 detainees a month. Our facility is unique and one of a kind as our sole mission as the primary staging facility for medically screening detainees entering into the ICE Los Angeles Field Office which covers all adjacent counties including Los Angeles, Ventura, San Bernardino, Riverside and Orange Counties. In collaboration with the secondary Medical Screening operation in Orange County (Santa Ana, CA), we ensure ICE detainees receive appropriate medical care and clearance for placement within ICE and contract facilities. The Los Angeles Medical Staging Facility operates 24 hours a day, 5 days a week and 16 hours on weekends. During these times, ICE detainees are continuously monitored ensuring optimal safety for staff and detainees alike.

Meet our staff and see what we do

Operated by the ICE Health Service Corps (IHSC), our Los Angeles screening center is staffed by a group of caring professionals comprised of Public Health Service Officers and contract support personnel. We provide comprehensive health screening and chest x-rays in a correctional setting supporting the ICE immigration case processing. The staff is currently comprised of Mid-Level Providers (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant), Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses and Medical Records Technicians (MRT). They are dedicated in their roles in support of the operation.

Our Location

Our facility is located in Los Angeles County, downtown Los Angeles, CA. It has a population of 10,179,716 (as of July 2004) and is multicultural. The facility is located in downtown Los Angeles and is housed in the heart of a federal building and accessible by two nearby interstate highways, train lines, or bus. It is situated close to China Town, Little Tokyo, and local theaters of international caliber, top of the line restaurants, five star hotels, and museums.
