About our facility

The Pinal County ICE Medical Clinic is located in the Pinal County Detention Facility in Florence Arizona. The medical clinic is considered a satellite facility to the Florence Service Processing Center (SPC), and we are geographically located within one mile of the Florence SPC. Our population is comprised of largely Spanish speaking detainees who originate primarily from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador; however we do house detainees from China as well as other locations throughout the world. The total bed capacity of the Pinal County Detention Facility is 1335 but the ICE Medical Clinic has a total bed capacity of 620.

Operated by the Division of Immigration Health Services and in support of the local Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) mission, the ambulatory clinic is staffed by a dedicated group of United States Public Health Service Officers and contract personnel. As with all our facilities, comprehensive primary health care is provided within a supervised and secure correctional setting. Physician's, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, Mental Health Practitioners, and support staff work as a team to meet the Division's mission of preventing the spread of disease globally through the provision of primary health care.

Our Location

The town of Florence was founded in 1866 and is the fifth oldest city or town in the state that is incorporated. Florence is a rural community situated in the central portion of Pinal County, Arizona about 45 minutes away from the Phoenix and Tucson metropolitan areas. The current population of Florence is 7,000 but it is anticipated that due to local positive job growth and expansive housing development projects the population is projected to grow by an additional 50,000 residents.

Places to go, People to see

The valley of the sun offers something for indoor as well as outdoor enthusiast alike. The local Arizona area is rich with western and Native American culture and traditions. With 305 days of sunshine per year, recreational opportunities abound including hiking, biking, and even snow skiing in the upper elevations of Arizona. Florence is located within four hours of the Grand Canyon as well as the Mexican border and Baja Peninsula.

In addition to its numerous natural attractions, the area offers abundant opportunities for sports fans. The Phoenix-Tucson area is home to the Phoenix Suns (Basketball), the Arizona Diamondbacks (Baseball), the Phoenix Cardinals (Football), and the Phoenix Coyotes (Hockey).

Two major universities and several nationally recognized community colleges are located in the area. The Kyrene and Marana school districts, ranked within the top 10% among Arizona schools, are within commuting distance from the Pinal facility.
