Kaolin and Pectin
Trade Name: Kaopectate
Therapeutic Class: 56:08 Antidiarrhea Agent
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to kaolin or pectin
Usual Dosage
Children 3-6 years:
15-30 ml/dose
Children 6-12 years:
30-60 ml/dose
Adults:
60-120 ml/dose
Dosage Form
Suspension: Kaolin 975 mg and pectin 22 mg per 5ml
Authorized Prescribers: MD/NP/PA/RN
Comments: RN: Diarrhea in adults, NP/PA: Diarrhea in adults and gastroenteritis in infants and children. Do not use for greater than 48 hours.
 

Ketorolac
Trade Name: Toradol
Therapeutic Class: 28:08.04 Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Agents
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to ketorolac, complete or partial syndrome of nasal polyps, bronchospastic reactivity or other allergic manifestations to aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs; patients with active peptic ulcer disease, recent GI bleeding or perforation; advance renal dysfunction; do not administer with aspirin, NSAIDs, or probenecid; patients with suspected or confirmed cerebrovascular bleeding
Usual Dosage
Adults:
Oral: 10 mg every 6 hours; maximum dose: 40 mg/day, to a maximum of 5 days
IM, IV: Maintenance: 30 mg every 6 hours, to a maximum of 5 days
Elderly >65 years:
Renal insufficiency or weight <50 kg: 30 mg, then 15 mg every 6 hours
Dosage Form
Injection: 15 mg, 30 mg, 60 mg
Tablet: 10 mg
Authorized Prescribers: MD and DDS only
Comments: Do not use for greater than five continuous days.
